Post by 2FAST »

First off im ok with the ride of the stock forks but im a BIG BOI sooo I press it down pretty far just by sitting on it I weigh 280 and yea lol!! Is there any way I can make them a little stiffer? I never jump or nothing just climb hill's and ride trail's and If I was to adjust the crew on bottom of the forks would it help any? and which way would I go for my weight on the rebound? ANY HELP WOULD BE AWESOME THANK'S IN ADVANCE JEREMY...

Racetech says (for 280# on a KDX):

FRONT FORK SPRINGS
Recommended Fork Spring Rate: 0.508 kg/mm (use closest available)
Stock Fork Spring Rate: .350 kg/mm (stock)
Available FRSP 3647 Series Springs are:

REAR SHOCK SPRING
Recommended Rear Shock Spring Rate: 5.76 kg/mm (use closest available)
Stock Shock Spring Rate: 5.0 kg/mm (stock)
Available SRSP 6228 Series Springs are:

Check out their recs at racetech.com.

Historically, RaceTech's recs are on the high side.

From MX-Tech:

Stock Spring Rates:
Fork: 0.37kg/mm
Shock: 5.0kg/mm (I put this in)
Recommended Spring Rates:
Fork: 0.50 kg/mm
Shock: 5.8 kg/mm

..the same as RaceTech.

In any case, at 280#, you're WAY off the mark with the OEM setup.

:hmm: Thanks in advance Jeremy? That's you...or you think Mr. Wilkey (Jeremy..MX-Tech founder/owner) hangs around these parts? Not much chance of the latter.....
