02 kx triple clamps

Post by muddertrucker »

I just bought a set of 02 forks to replace my 97's. I'm pretty sure I read here that they would not fit my existing clamps (97). When looking on ebay it seems clamps from 02 are different than all other years. I've seen that clamps from 99 to 01 are the same and 03 to 05 but nothing for 02. Can someone confirm this for me?

Is that the top or bottom triple or both?

So 02 to 04 triples are all the same diameter?

The reason i'm asking is because i'm away from home until march and can't realy compare physicaly.

I know I'm probably starting to get anoying with this but......does anybody know why they list all clamps for kx as 99 to 01, 02, 03 to 05. I know you said it works but I keep getting the feeling it won't ounce I try to fit it all together. Are aftermarket clamps different?

Thanks for the patience.

To answer my own question: The only difference is the length of the stem wich is 10 mm longer (well actualy it's the part one frame that the stem goes into) on all 03's and above. So if you swap the stem 02 forks will fit 03 to 05 triples. :supz:

Make sure you get the correct axle length for the T-clamps year. I bought an 05 axle and it was to short for my 02 T-clamps.
