2001 kx 125 shim stack

Post by rick albert »

hi guys......got a question about my shim stack: i have 01' kx 125 forks on my 06' kdx;i pulled the base valve today to remove some of the 24mm shims, but there are only three (3) 24mm shims on the stack; i thought there would be more. i think its stock valving, because the nut was still peened............thanks

Your valving may be fine... what does your stack consist of?

Under what conditions are you trying to soften them up? What springs and oil level are you running? Are the bladders still installed?

hey strider80.......i'm trying to soften the LSC seeing thats mostly what i ride (tight single track w/ lots of rock, roots and ruts) i'm not sure what the spring rate is for a stock 01' kx 125, but if you look on mx tech's web site they say .40 and race tech say .43 ......so whos right ??????
oil level is set at 120mm and the bladders are still installed.......

What was the rest of the stack? From what I have read, most people run 3 or more 24's in the basevalve. It can't be stock though, most stock stacks have 8+ 24's in them. I am running 3 24's in my 2001 KX stuff, no bladders (restrictive barrier modded), 120mm oil level, some midvalve tweaks, and it is pretty plush.
