My KDX/KX/YZ fork conversion........

Post by Rick »

Well, I'm almost finished with my conversion. At first, and some of you may remember, I thought I had bought 99' YZ forks. So, I bought a YZ front wheel off of e-bay. Well, when every thing showed up, It was discovered that they were 00' or so KX forks. After alot of research, and alot of shopping, and alot of help, Its almost ready to ride! :supz: Thanks to all of you for your help and info. And a HUGE thanks to JIM(Jeb). Drumroll please........

That's one fine looking KDX250. One of the nicest I've seen, at least. Good job on the conversion :)

Pfff. Bike is WAY too clean. Must be Photochopped, or something.....never happened

Just kidding! Keep the seat. When you blow by a CRF or (God forbid) a pumpkin, they'll think, "WTF just passed me!" Paint the frame pink for added comical value. :supz:

Great job!

Now, give Vince some $$$ because his site provided you with the tech info to do it right. Just sayin'.

Pink frame......No. Pipe Guard, maybe. I do tend to get alot of looks, Zooming around on this Antique. I call it an Antique, cuz way too much $$$$$$ has been invested in it, for it to be just Old! I love it though, and yes, It will fly by the affermentioned bikes! Yes, a big thanks to Vince, and his wonderful site. Lots of info, and lots of friends. btw, its not that clean, and the pipe is old. Just takes a good picture, I guess.... :supz: Thanks guys.

I think most of us are in agreement, especially those of us who maybe more advanced riders, that when we blast through the woods, desert or track, on our "Obsolete", or "Ancient" KDX's and pass, force, or otherwise bother the guy in front of you....they get pissed! Apparently, the newer the bike, the better rider they are...in their own mind. I am seriously thinking of entering the Denver round of the AMA Endurocross, just to make a point. Rick, hang on to the Baby-Blue seat cover. I may just enter, paint my plastic pink, get to the night races, and bang bars with the best guys. Imagine them being beat by a pink KDX! :supz:

So when are we riding? Wait, I know . . . SOON!!

I was thinkin' of posting a "what about a group ride" and see if we have some interest in the weekend after next (12th/13th timeframe)

Hopefully soon........ Still need to do a few things like drain out the old gas, refill, make sure it runs. Ya know, simple stuff. Find a place to do a plug chop. Perform said plug chop. See if I can ride this thing with the new forks, tires, plug chop, etc!
