04 KDX 220 Fork Conversion Questions

Post by parker72001 »

Okay, I have an '04 KDX 220 which is pretty much stock. I finally have saved up some money and am planning on modding this thing alot this winter. One of the things I really want to do is the fork conversion. So my question to everyone is what year of forks would be the easiest to convert for my bike? I'm assuming that the conversion normally uses KX 125 forks, am I right? Anyway, please let me know which year would be the easiest and tell me everything I will need to get this done.

One more thing, I'm 6'6" and weigh about 210 pounds. Probably about 230 all geared up.

From what I know, you need KX125/250 forks from 96-current. You may want to try for 250's since the springs will probably match your weight better. To save yourself hassles, you also need the wheel and triple clamps from the same year. You can do some mixing and matching with years, but I would avoid it if you can.
