5.2 Spring

Post by Green Hornet »

Well I went from around 185-190 to 200-205lbs. within the last year. Just installed a New Race Teck 5.2kg. Spring on the rear shock. Have the Race Sag set around 95mm & 1/2 - 3/4 in just reating. Any other ideas??

Well I tried it today & a noticable difference in the ride & handling. I weigh in a 226lbs, with full gear. The bikes rear is more planted & does not bounce up as much especially in rocks. Stays straight & seems to turn better. I had no idea I was that much over the 5.0 spring weight of 210lbs Max. Still a bit of fine tuning, but I'll really test it on Wednesday.

You have the same set-up that I have with about 10 more pounds than me.

I have the race sag at around 100mm and the static at 32.

Looks like you've got yours cranked up quite a bit more than me.

Since the spring broke in a bit I now have 3/4 in static & about 100mmRace. Its harder to throw my leg over the bike now & I'm 6'00. But the bike does feel alot differnt. The sag was set to my weight when I was 185-190, but now............

It's depressing, isn't it? I hope to lose some lbs over the summer, because fully geared I'm a bit north of your weight and I'm on the stock spring! I can get a 5.3 spring for $50 so it won't be long before I switch. Thanks for the report.
