axel pinch

Post by scheckaet »

What is the torque value for the pinch bolt on the front axel? I don't have the KX manual help!
(I used the KDX value of 7.25)
Thanks

I seem to remember 14ft-lbs, but I would feel better if someone backed me up on that.

This has been posted before. I didn't look for it when I needed it, and didn't remember, either.

Considering the size of the bolt, 14ft/lb would seem safe...but mine won't take even close to that.

I know that 'cuz I tried 14 'cuz it seemed like a good number.

I got that 'bad' feeling when the turning force doesn't 'tighten up' like you know it should?

Maybe someone afore me already goobered the fork threads. I wasn't interested in pushing it.

I settled on 10ft/lb.

Brand new Craftsman wrench, btw.

I figured, 'What does it matter? The axle isn't GOing anywhere! If BOTH ends were held ONLY by pinchers I'd worry about it some. The axle (on my '99s anyway) is held to the left fork pretty good at about 65ft/lbs.
