Fork Conversion

Post by jowens66 »

I have a 96 Kdx 200 with the stock forks. I was wanting to put some KX 125 or 250 front forks on my bike. I found some for a good price. Do i need a KX triple clamp? What all else do i need to put the forks on there? Kx front wheel? I just want the bike to handle better and better suited for jumping and things like that. What tools are required? Any machine work? Thanks

Have you read the sticky Inda made for the KX mod?
This should be a good start.
For the KX conversion you will need
KX fork
KX wheel with axel (unless you can machine the stock KDX to fit, I believe somebody in here has done it)
KX triple clamp
What year is your fork and triple clamp?
You need to press the sterring stem out of the KDX triple (machine shop $35) and put it in the KX triple, some need knurling, there is a poll about what year need it.
Tool? Torque wrench and your basic tools should be enough, a couple of spacers for the steering stem and some shims for the top triple.
Read the sticky Inda made and most of this will make sense.

I just finished mine and it was fairly easy especially with this forum and good peoples
Good luck :supz:
