FTR I'm running 02 KX250 forks with bladder removed, midvalve replacement kit, gold valves, Racetech .38s and I weigh in at 180lb fully kitted. PLUSH CITY and can still handle 70' tabletops no probs.

This is not a sound suspension tuning practice in compensating for incorrect rate springs

I agree... I tried some of that and was never happy with the results. Get the proper rate springs to start with... you will be glad you did.

I was running .43 on the KX forks at 175lbs and they were indeed making me want to scrap the KDX for parts and go a another color but after .40 springs and a little valving BAM!!!! magic bike appeared.

well, with everything said, think I will try the 2000 kx500 w/.40 springs as they are on the 03. Maybe just do an oil and seal change. On the 2003 KX 250 forks w/.44 springs for my 02, I will get some lighter springs. And for my 2005 I will keep the KDX forks for now and put 2004 Xr400 .40 springs in. what is the best way to compensate for the longer xr spring? should I cut the spacer or is there an aftermarket I should get??

You can cut the metal one down but most go out and buy some Schedule 40 PVC pipe...1 1/2" and cut new ones.

Exactly.... Make sure you cut them square at the ends. It took me a bit to get them perfect.
