99-02 Prospective KX Fork Converts

Post by bradf »

I have the "stuff" (split collar bushing for the RHS and axle nut/shoulder combo for the LHS) needed to use the original KDX wheel, axle and odometer in the 09-02 KX forks. These were machined by KDXPhil, who has sorta disappeared off the face of the earth. If you need these I'll give em to ya for free if you pay the shippin.
BUT WAIT! (is a but weight somethin you hook to yer arse)
If you act now you get the slightly modified KDX axle and 2 spacer washers for the ridiculously low price of nuttin.
Operators standing by
There are no operators and they aint standin, it's just me, stiin here with a but weight draggin me down.

Since I have one of Phil's other axles I think it will work for the 90 KDX wheel. You'll have to use the spacers from the 90 KDX wheel if i'm reading it correctly. If you want to use it on a 94-98 KX fork you'll need a different nut on the end piece as well if I remember right.

Phil machined a split collar for the RHS of the KDX axle that increases the sholuder size for the larger KX hole. For the LHS he made a combination stainless nut/collar that threads on the KDX axle. I had to use 2 additional washers to position the wheel rotor in the caliper. I then had 1/4" trimmed off the large shoulder of the KDX axle to allow it to slide more to the left to get 6 threads of bite vs 3 threads. The speedo still acts as a RHS spacer. You can see them in his gallery. I have been trying to get a KX wheel since March and finally won one for a decent price. Now I can get rid of the other stuff. By the way, the wheel will be sold too.

Nothing top secret... just converting a 90 KDX over to a KX frontend and rebuilding the topend. Proly RB it it too....

It, like most has been neglected due to their toughness! :?
