i noticed most of you had to use stoppers in order for the fork tubes not to hit anything. I just put mine in, just the upper part and they arent hitting anything i can see, has anyone had the same thing happen or does it hit somewere i am not looking?

They will hit the tank. Assemble both upper and lowers with the tubes then see if the tubes contact the tank.

In my case, the steering damper became the stops, which is very bad. I added some 1/8" aluminum bar stock to my stops to solve that.

I used a mig welder to extend the OEM frame tab - Installed the forks and front wheel, etc and then before installing the light ground the weld on the tab down on each side so the forks would come within 1/8 inch or so of the tank. Dabbed black paint on the weld and called it good.
