Post by Ryan »

Hi, this guy said for $125 i can have these forks and the triple tree he is selling, do you all think i should go for it. I already have a pivot works fork rebuild kit, and i have .36 springs for my weight, (thanks brad). Does it seem like a good deal or do you all think i can get some cheaper?? thanks for your advice.

GH or anyone elese i got one more question, do you know if the 98's have midvavles in them? I am looking at these

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-Kawas ... 1288QQrdZ1

that way i can save my rebuild kits untill this next winter, but if they have a mid vavle i will need to take them apart. If they dont i can just take out the base vavles, have someone give me a good set up and pop them back in. What do you think, should i set an esnipe on these? or buy the first ones?

I don't know about the 98's, My mid valves were removed . In the NE woods, those shock settings will knock my teeth out.

Ryan,
Just ride the bike with the forks as-is first. Before you go ripping out mid-valves, bladders, adjusting shimstacks, etc. Establish a base for your mods so you will know what the effects your changes have made. In my case, I found my stock 2002 KX250 forks to be as good as I desire. Could they be better? I don't know. I do know that I have never ridden a bike with better front suspension than I have now with the stock set-up, that I don't crash because of the limits to my suspension, and that I keep up or ride faster than any bike in the woods. (Read that last part carefully. I did not say I was faster than any other rider, just that my bike is capable of the feat.)

P.S. Apologize to m0rie for insulting him. Then go stand in the corner until he says it's time to come out.

alright, here is the deal the guy with the 98 forks that need seals said. He said $145 for the forks and the triple tree shipped to my door. Or i can get the other forks, and then just bid on a triple tree. what do you think i should do. Or do you all think i should wait for completly different sets.

Having a matched set of forks and triple clamps for under $150 shipped that just needs seals (that you already have) its a great deal. I'd go for it.
