Ryan - If you have a set of calipers you can measure the lower fork legs and the two spots where the triple clamps seat. We should be able to tell you what general year they are from that.

i got a measurey thing when i meausre my fork legs the inner ones they come out to be 48mm. When i measure the tt, the top measurement is 52mm and the bottom was 57mm.

I am asking because i bought a pivot works rebuid kit for my "97 kx250 forks" the thing is the seals are too big.

I also bought race tech seals before i bought the pivot works kit because i was just going to do seals before i realized it needed bushings.

Both the seals that were in the bike and the race tech seals had NoK on them and both numbers started with BR if this helps.

my bad, they are 43mm. I know what that means, i can guess since they are 43mm and since the bottom of the forks say kx94, that they are 94 kx250 forks. This sucks for me. I spent $100 on seals and a fork rebuild kit and i am having them vavled at my local shop right now. So i spend $160 for nothing..... I need to go punch something.

This is not a big deal Ryan. Just resell the seals and bushings if they are still in usable shape. I've got a set of 94 KX clamps for those forks if you need them. Are these the forks that have the base valves with no shims? I've got a set of base valves I can send out your way if you need them as well. Let me know.

hey Ryan, look at the bright side. You'll get to ride a nice bike, and you learned stuff. Can't you return the stuff you bought?

To put in perspective, my kid hurt himself a while back, and can't ride most of the season. On top of that, it looks like it'll cost me around $3K over what the insurance pays. There's a bright side here too. If I didn't have insurance, I'd be looking at over $20K  or if this was midievel times, he'd be crippled for life. Of course, back then the chance of him getting run over by a KTM would have been remote... I think they just made BSAs back then.

Just be like me....Keepin' on the sunny side of life.. :partyman:

its hard when i only make 7.50 an hour and i need to pay for insurance and my car. I know you all got more bills but it sucks not being able to have the kdx i wanted. I know i sound really greedy but i was really looking forward to having the perfect kdx in my eyes.

I bet the forks will work great and you'll enjoy the bike. You don't sound greedy, you sound more like you're getting a dose of life's bumps all at once. At least you're working for your money and know the value of it. I respect that a great deal. I listen to some of my kid's freinds rattling off a bunch of glitzy parts or gear that their parents buy them, and then they go out and treat it like crap.

Hang in there :supz:

They have different Kawi part numbers but that could just be a difference in valving. The 94's don't have midvalves btw. 95 was the first year for midvalves.

What hurt you in the whole conversion thing is.... you didn't do the research and you didn't wait for and confirm that you were getting the forks that you wanted. It is all a process but it's the way you went about it.

I'm not slamming you in anyway.... just trying to get you to slow down and do the research. The 94's should work out fine..... nothing wrong with them in my eyes...

You should have verified what you were getting. Do you have a pic of them?

4619529145 this is the item number. They look really crapy in this pic and they were when i got them but they are nice and shinny now and they dont have any of them stickers. They look exactly like the other 96-97 forks ive seen
