Taking my forks apart

Post by Ryan »

Alright, i have everything out of my forks, but i was wondering how do i seperate the lower and upper tubes. I took off the dust seal, and the retaining clip, so i think all that is left is the oil seal. Does anyone know what i need to do next?

Alright, here is a picture of the base vavle. There are 4 tab things on top. Is it alright if they are broken off??

http://img104.imagevenue.com/img.php?lo ... _valve.jpg

here is anohter picture of the base vavle, how do i get the black thing off. It seems like the threads are in the way.

http://img28.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc ... alve_2.jpg

this is a shot of the bushings, does it look like they need to be replaced?? you can only see one spot were it is worn but does that matter?
http://img136.imagevenue.com/img.php?lo ... shings.jpg

also this is a picture of the pushrod, i think this is also a mid vavle. Do i take this off to make my forks more woods friendly?? Thanks for any help.

Your base valve seems to be missing parts, like a cup, spacer, spring, nut.

i already removed everything above the vavle. When i tried to get the vavle off it would not come off. It seems like the threads are keeping it from coming off. Im trying to take it off so i can set it up for woods riding. Any help would be great

There's nothing more holding the BV on. The end of the threads have been swagged, or swedged, or whatever that word is, meaning that if it is still expanded even slightly you won't be able to pull the BV off.
