Well i just won a wheel from a kx250. Now im committed. I just shipped out my forks to Jeff and my kdx wheel on ebay is at $140. So right now i got $340 for my kdx stuff. Not bad. I may gain money on this conversion. Who knows maybe the wheel will go higher, its still got 5 days left.

here is the wheel i won. Very good deal.. at least i hope. I will be very upset if i see one go cheaper. :evil:

:shock: , kay dee exer, what spring rate do you have in yours?? and how much do you weight?? thanks. Im looking at 125's that have a stock rate of.38 and i weight 135.

well I just sold my kdx wheel yesterday night. I got $222.50 for it. Not bad. It seems like alot but i put new bearings in, new seals, new tire and I also gave them the axel and the rotor.

that's amazing. I think I only paid $60 for my KX wheel with axle, rotor, almost new tire. Sounds like you should be a broker.

all right. Ive been doing research like you all have said. ive looked and ive found some good forks. My question is what spring rates would be good for me. The forks i am looking at are 02's, and 97's. Ive got just two questions that i am having a hard time finding the answer to. My first question is will springs from 02 forks work in 97-01 forks. My second question is, what spring rate would suit me best. I am 135 at the moment but i will be at least 140 to 145 by the time i can ride in 2 months. I am not sure which rate to get. Please let me know what you think.

I have Racetech .38's but they came with Racetech .42's.
I weight 150ish without gear, don't forget to factor in your riding gears weight.

Well i guess i will try .38, thats what the forks that i am getting come with, at least that what the seller says. If not i will go to .36.

.38's with valve work will be plenty plush and will soak up most big hits with a few clicks. The 'right' valving is just as important as spring choice IMHO.

Will stock valving work the best? Also paypal took $6.00 in fees so i made only $216.50 I am thinking of getting 97 kx125 forks, they dont hav bladders so i wont have to disable that. The stock springs are .38 so i will try those. How much does it cost to revavle the forks if i needed that done??

Not sure about prices over there but I payed $300AU for new .38 Racetech springs, a re-valve from MX to enduro valving (he actually swapped the gold vavles I had for more enduro/trail based ones) and new oil etc. A re-vavle will be needed if you are riding any kind of woods.

were can i get the enduro vavling? All i ride is woods and trails and the occasional field but nothing else. Also would 97 kx125 forks or 02 kx125 forks be better for riding in the woods. As far as the valving. I know i will have to disable the bladder but if i did that on the 02's and they both had the correct spring rate, which forks would be better for me?? thanks

All KX forks (stock) are setup for motocross. IE Fast whoops, 80'+ triples, etc. In other words too stiff / harsh for trail riding. Any suspension tuner will be able to revalve your forks for trail use rather than MX.

97-98-99-00-01-02-03 whatever, they are all setup for MOTOCROSS and really need to be revalved for trail use.

do you know were i can get these vavles and how much they cost. I will replace then myself because It would cost to much to send them to a shop.

You already have the valves (Base Valve BV, possibly a Mid Valve MV, possibly a MV check plate). It's a matter of where the shims go on these stacks (which you already have) and what shims to take out, oil wt and oil level. And of course the spring rate front and rear. It is easy internal work and if you have a bladder...in your forks, you remove it. There are quite a few approaches to making these work well for the trail rider. All approaches do not lead to the same affect though. Some approaches actually go backwards in technology. The different approaches might feel the same in the plush area on small rocks and roots but will be drastically different in the last half of travel on the big hits or the "high speed travel". Places like WER has spent a bunch of time making these woods type suspension (rear is also a factor). I know Jeremy Wilky and John Curea at MX-Tech know these critters very very well. Those are some smart fellers.

Revalving is an art on its own, that's one thing I'd recommend a knowledgable suspension tuner tackle. Jason (a former member) does supension work and if needed I can give you his details. If you have a reputable tuner in your area I'd send em there for a revalve if nothing else.

ya i didnt know cause the 02;s are 48mm and the 98-01's are 46mm. Thanks, now i think i will get the 02's because i can get some .36 springs for $50.

race tech said they have the same length but a differnt diameter thats why i was not sure if they would work.
