Does 20mm above the triple sound right for the kx500 forks? I am measuring from the top of the fork not including the hex part. I had it at 28 but that was real easy to wash the front.

Measure the height of the kdx forks from the axle to the top of the fork, set your kx forks at that measurement. Adjust fork height from there for turnabily and stability.
