Front end ideas
Hey guys check this out, I put a regulator/rectifier and LED light bar on my 92 DX200, now I'm trying to figure out a fairing to clean it up some. This is the old tail fender that came with the bike. I'm not going to sand and paint it unless I want to keep it, so tell me what you think:

If it was me, I would mount it lower so it just about touches the front fender and then cut the overall height down until it is just above the crossbar. Cut a slot in it for the lights. But that's me and according to my wife I have no style.

I think I agree. All that height is a bit much. The fender is pretty beat up too. Cutting off a lot of it will help, hehe.Dekon wrote:If it was me, I would mount it lower so it just about touches the front fender and then cut the overall height down until it is just above the crossbar. It's so hard for me to buy new plastics on am old dirtbike just to get them beat up!

Sorry, not trying to be rude at all. I just don't like the look but a good part of it is its just way too high. Kind of looks like a claw hammer. My question is why not just get a number plate?Friedom wrote:I'm very interested in your genuine opinions, even if they're like this guy ^^ :)

Re: Front end ideas
Have to agree, height is too tall and really it's not wide enough to do any good as a fairing. The KTM plate looks good. Also, with that fender right there it would be nearly whacking you in the chest while standing.

But now that I look back on this, it looks like a dinosaur crossbreed with a dirtbike.bufftester wrote:Have to agree, height is too tall and really it's not wide enough to do any good as a fairing. And not really in a good way. I took it off first ride and it hasn't gone back on. I found a better and easier way to mount the light that would allow me to put a number plate on. Now to find a number plate.

(Took your advice)
It's just a mockup that's sitting there, but the result will be much cleaner I think. Now to help out that poor fender..

Re: Front end ideas
Update: the light bar is now mounted on the handlebars via some rubber and plumbing straps, and the number plate is mounted via some custom brackets to line it all up.
Soooooooo much better.

Re: Front end ideas
Looks good man! I like the little light bar on there. I was thinking that I wanted a light on my hybrid, but wanted to stick with an MX number plate... this looks like a pretty good solution to that!

Re: Front end ideas
That little light bar is a powerhouse ss25 from advmonster. I put on a cheap rectifier to make DC for it. Could use a capacitor to smooth it out at idle, but it's like a car headlight.Tyl3r wrote:Looks good man! I like the little light bar on there.
