2000 RM Fork swap

Hey guys, I did some searching on here and can't find much in the way of RM forks (particularly after 1999). I found a super deal on a 2000 RM250 front end (rebuilt forks, just missing the wheel and top clamp). It looks like 96-99 are the same, and I see that others on here have swapped those on. Don't see anything on 2000-200? RM forks. Just looking for a go/ no-go answer if I should get em or not. Only 100 bucks... I'd hate to pass that up. The only things I can think of that would stop me would be if I couldn't press my KDX stem into the RM lower clamp, or if the forks/clamps are going to run into the tank or frame.

Bad idea? Good idea? I'm feeling like I should pull the trigger....

The 96/97/98 rm forks are conventional 49mm 99 is usd 49mm I have a set. I installed the 98 conventional on my H series KDX and the stem needed to be knurled in order to fit tight in the lower triple. Also a shim was needed at the top of the stem, so it would fit tight in the upper triple. I think I still have the old stem out of the conventional forks triple, I could measure and see if it's the same as the usd stem.

I had put a 96 rm250 front end on my e series and had the same experience. Knurled bottom and shimmed top.

Yea I should probably pull the trigger. Going to see if I can meet up with him this weekend.

I was going to hold off on a fork swap until next season, but this deal seems too good to pass up...

acutely the 97-98 maybe 96 rm forks are only conventional in that they re not usd. They are twin chamber though. They are thought to be some of the best woods forks ever produced. I put them on just about every woods bike I have had. When set up right they are unreal. They are the same internally as the twin chamber USD Showa of later years. Slightly more flex but not much which makes them very forgiving . Even the KTM guys were using them and the swap is no harder than kx swap
