Klx 250 forks question
To my knowledge, there is no 1998 KLX250R.
The KLX250R was made from '92 to '96 before it was bumped up in displacement to become the KLX300. The forks are all the same on all those models. There is also the '06-07 KLX250S dual sport based roughly on the same platform, and also likely can be made to work. Finally, there is the '09+ KLX250S dual sport, which is completely different, and probably not a typical swap candidate due to a much shorter fork length.

Re: Klx 250 forks question
I think it was 1994 - 1996. I have some info here that I believe to be correct:

I think the 1994 - 1996 KLX250 forks are about the same as the 1997 - 2007 KLX300 forks.
