Well I got the 99-01 TT from a Canadian KX125. I tried sliding the trees over the forks and it does'nt appear to go on properly, since the top tree will not touch the forks Do I have to spread the clamps a bit to get the lowers on or is Canadian Bikes Different or I've got to start checking part numbers AGAIN

Does the bottom go over the spot it's supposed to? Mine slid right over the thick parts with a little bumping . I didn't need to force it, and that was just with the pinch bolts loosened all the way. Mine are 2003 though. A picture would help.

Is it possible that when he shipped the Triple to you he re-torqued the bolts?

If so then he could have reduced the working internal diameter of the clamps, if it appears to be close, I would try screwing them back open by threading a screw into the second hole( the receiving end of the bolt in the triple tree, if you dont understand i can explain in more detail) and screwing a bolt into the first hole against the screw in the second hole, forcing the clamp open. You would obviously do this without the forks mounted in the tree.

To clarify- Do one side at a time. Screw 2 bolts in the back of the triple tree, from the back of the triple tree, opposite to how you would normally srew them in. Srew them in till they reach within the cutaway in the clamp diameter.
Then screw 2 bolts in the front, against the other 2 bolts, and wind them in until the clamps spread.
Hopefully that should do it.

It's close, I will have to do that. Gets to the top of the fat and will not go further. Top seems to be fine. I'll try and let ya all know. Pics?? The wifey lost/forgot where the Digital camera is. Maybe in New Jersey somewhere

i had to get a screwdriver and give my clamps a little wedge to get the forks to go up into the clamps. these are the clamps that came with the forks from the same kx 250. just get one of those short drivers with a thick blade. do this where the clamp bolts together. it did not take hardly any force to do this, and i do not have any stiction problems. rember to hold the forks before twisting, this is obvious, but thought i would throw that in.

If you take this route , watch out when prying the aluminum TT with a steel screwdriver, you may gouge the surface!

Huh?

One side is slip fit to the shoulder diameter, the other threaded. You don't thread them in from both directions.

You could place an incorrectly sized washer in there..in the gap...against the backwards bolt. That would force the clamp apart on the correct axis.

Might bugger the bolt if you didn't use the 'correct' sized washer...or some buffer material.

If it's as close as it likely is, a gently applied screwdriver isn't going to hurt anything.

Right on CC, you are exaclty right! Dont know what I was thinking, or if I was thinking at all!

BTW, received my suspension today, same problem. My TT was about 2 mm smaller, think it is because it is cold or maybe it relaxes? Not sure. I used the washer tequnique, worked great!

Green hornet, did you get your stem pressed in? Did it require knurling?

Not yet, within the next month. I have a guy who's local that can do it at his shop. I;m trying to P/U a KDX TT so I can save or sell the other setup as whole.

I'm not sure what a TT is, in KDX lingo...but Fredette had an 'H' stem when I asked him.
