usd forks on 1990

Post by straitnate14 »

I have a 1990 with stock forks that are leaking. I have a set of forks of a 1989 kx125 and I have access to 94 forks for cheap and I was woundering what would be a better setup. I assume I will have to rebuild either so I was planing on re valving the 94 usd forks while I was at it. Or am I better off just rebuilding the stock forks and re valving them?

You may want to check wheel fit on the 1989 set. I know the stock KDX wheel will not fit the 1994 forks.

Are the 94 forks from a kx? If so, the would my choice. If not, then the 89 forks. One thing is for sure, you'll be updating either way.

usd forks on 1990

The 94 forks are off a kdx200 and the 1989 forks are off a kx125. I have the 89 forks in my garage so I guess I should just go with what I got. They look just like the forks that are on the bike already so I think they should work. This will be the first time I've messed with forks, is there anything special I will need?

usd forks on 1990

For what its worth the 89 kx conventional fork are one of the best off road forks still. They have a real long bottom out cone just like the new Huck valves.
They are soooooo plush and can still take the big hits. If they are truly the 89's you are a luck guy. The only problem is the low hanging for tubes.

They are of an 89. Now the question is do I need anything to swap them like brakes or the triple tree? Because the guy still has all that if I want it.

You need the whole front end. The brakes, trees and wheel.
