92 kx125* fork springs

Post by KDXohio »

can 1990 kx125 fork springs be swapped with 1992 kx 125 fork springs

I have the 92 forks on my 200 and I think the springs have been replaced with heavier ones I have a front end from a 90 that feels like it may have lighter springs in it could also be my imagination...

I second his no. They are narrower and a fair amount longer.

What rate springs are you needing? Are your forks shortened internally?

I don't remember what the spring race was when I looked on Race techs website but I believe i need the stock rate. maybe I will just go ahead and rebuild the other forks and try them

Stock spring rate is .37 for the 125 race tech recommends .39
It recommends .37 for the stock 200 forks so I'm thinking .37 would be fine if that's whats in there

Is there anyway to verify if the springs are stock?

I don't know if there were any marks on those stock springs.

Race Tech has become ridiculous on fork spring rates for me, so I eye them with caution. You have KX forks on a KDX, so you need to be looking at what it says for a KDX, not a KX. Go with the bike, not the forks.

The only way I know for sure to verify spring rate is to have it rate tested at a suspension shop or at home with the broomstick and weights (or other) method.

I "THINK" I have a new set of .40's for 1991 - 1992 KX125 / 1991 - 1992 KX250 / 1991 - 1993 KX500 that I want to sell.

I fixed my stiff feeling I don't even want to admit what was wrong with them....I only rode the bike 1 quick short time last year after swapping forks unfortunately..I wasn't worried about dialing them in that trip since I was pressed for time which is probably why i just noticed they were so stiff.

AAAAAANYWAYS long story short I had my compression and rebound clickers fully seated on the left fork and set correctly on the right fork I must have been interrupted while I was reassembling the bike and forgot to finish adjusting that fork! OOOPS!  :bravo: :bravo: :bravo:
