More fork swap questions
Hey guys. I picked up a 2001 kx 125 complete front end to put on my 01 220. Sending the lower trees to RB for the swap and spacer, along with the head and carb for his mods. I am considering the axle mod too so I can use my kdx wheel. New bearings already, and the kx wheel has a different rounder style, and is ragged and a little bent. Plus the rotor looks like it has quite a bit of metal on metal time on it. Gotta love eBay. I hope the kdx caliper fits, as it is rebuilt and the kx one looks like it needs new Pistons and seals. I have a rebuild kit and seals and wipers coming to rebuild the forks. My question is, is there a hard number for the amount I need to lower the forks internally? Or should I measure from stem to center of axle now before I take it apart, and hold off on the rebuild to do the same with the kx forks after I get the tree back from Ron to get an exact measurement? thanks for any input.

I would say measure it and go with what you measure.

Re: More fork swap questions
That's what I was thinking. That's prolly the most accurate way. I'll document it thoroughly for others wanting to do the mod. Thanks!

I have heard of that mod. Is that so its more plush? I considered sending the forks and shock to wer, but I don't know if I can justify putting too much more money in this bike. So any cheap/free mod will be tried first. Thanks!

I am not sure on all the benefits, but it seems quite common. It will deal with midvalve float.
Remove a few base valve shims to soften it up for woods.
