1999 kx125 clamps

Post by Ca94cr250 »

I just purchased these on eBay for my 90 kdx200 .. Are the 99's an exact swap as far as the stem goes , or will it need machining ?

Ok I found the Answer to that question , but can someone please explain what the reason is that the stem from the 125 won't work on our frame please ?

No. They are not an exact swap.

Here is yet another old windbag response:

The stem is a larger dimeter, with a larger diameter top bearing. No, there is not a magic bearing to make it swap.

A 1990 KDX stem will not be a snug fit into the KX lower clamp. It is off by about 7 thousandths, I think. It is too narrow. That is why people mention having the stem or clamp knurled.
