Great deal on the forks! :supz: Pretty good deal on the rim... your way ahead on what I paid so far! Should be able to get the triples for around $50 and then it's all down hill from there.....

Sooo....an axle and a couple of wheel spacers..and you're done!!!

Well...swap the stems.

I recommend getting another KDX stem! That will keep you from messing with YOUR KDX clamp to get to THAT stem. You can get the extra stem in the KX clamp, then get it all done at once...vs: taking the KDX parts out...taking them to a shop to have the stems swapped.

Pickup some spacers (I used fender washers from the hardware store) to space the top clamp 'up' the stem.

Use some shim stock to make up the difference in diameters between the KDX stem and the hole in the top clamp. I had a bushing made for my KX top clamp. There are notes on this site that say WHAT that diff is..not a lot. Something like .020" (inch!!) which is about .5mm.

Going to get a new tire while you're at it?

Don't forget to at least check the bearings!

Oh...check out the new MXS series EBC pads! A lot of them come with caliper slide pins!!

Good luck!

Oh...you might as well change the oil in the forks while they're out. Well...that isn't a MUST. Remember the guy said one fork leaked...............

Remember what Ski found...no more than 12ft/lb on the clamps!! 10-11 better.

Good Luck!!

HAVE FUN WITH IT!!!

Allow me to err on the side of caution and ask instead of telling. You listed some items you won and said, "Heres everything". I am seeing 2001 forks, but 2003 clamps. Again, erring on the side of caution, IF you intended to use 2003 clamps on 2001 forks, then that won't work. 2003 clamps have larger outer fork tube mounting holes. They are too large to work.

EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION: 2003 clamps won't work with 2001 forks.

Jason, you mean they won't work with older forks right? you can still use 2003 stuff, it just all has to match?

Hi. 2003 clamps won't work with 2001 forks. I'm afraid that may be what Green Hornet accidentally is trying to do. 2003 clamps and 2003 forks would be a perfect match. Several people here have 2003 "stuff".

Well...'thar 'ya go! Leave it Jason to ask the right questions!!

I just looked at the pictures...didn't worry about the years of stuff (well, I did the wheel..cuz I had a problem with THAT). I presumed in error...that homework had been done.

Jason's right. What....the '01s are 46mm and the '03's are 48mm? Something like that.

I should'a caught that.

Good job Mr. Who!!!! Best to know earlier than later...but, that not being an option at this point (before purchase)..it's still better to know it now!

Sorry, GreenH. Looks like a bit of misstep. No biggee! Forewarned is forearmed, though! Now you know!!

Uh...a BTW...some folks have machined clamps to fit larger forks as in this case. I'll be you could get by with taking a couple mm off and still be OK. **edit..sorry. Had the two backwards. Here comes the shim-stock!

Best to get what fits, imogdo*!!

The holes in those clamps are too large, not too small.
