Brake Calipers

Post by m0rie »

Are the KX front brake calipers any better than the KDX front brake calipers? I'll have to buy a brake caliper when I do the KX USD conversion as my existing caliper will not bolt up to the KX forks as far as I can tell. I've been looking at the KX calipers but if a KDX caliper will work just as good that will provide another option for me to watch.

They work just fine on the KX forks if you plan to use the KDX brake line.... Same caliper, just designed a tad bit different. So you should be able to use a 95 and up KDX caliper.

Thanks Inda - that gives me a little more to go on with the brake line routing. I remember seeing topic, but couldn't find it. Glad you pulled it up for me.

*edit* Gee, if I only opened my eyes and saw that it was a sticky in the USD forum...Doh!

My favorite beverage is Johnny Walker Blue. That would be more than a new bike I think. somebody beat me out on the forks it looks like. maybe I'll get the little stuff and find a good deal on the forks later. My wife is gonna filet me.

re: do they work better..

..was the question.

Here's another non-answer.

Yes, the KDX caliper bolts to the KX forks ('H' model KDX in my case). AND it works just fine, too!

'Just fine' meaning I use two fingers on my front brake and have never had occassion to need more pressure. Anything from slight drag (tactile) to full lock is not a problem..no fade, no reduction in effectiveness.

Some (a lot of?) mods are more bling than sing. There is no reason to worry about a properly working KDX caliper not being up to the task.
