Just got a 2000 KDX 220, with the PC Pipe and silencer and still have the stock 33mm carb w/ Boyesen reeds and finally dialed in the jetting, now can't keep the front end down, wow, pretty impressive for a trail bike. OK, so now to move onto the suspension.
On it's initial maiden voyage, I had the compression clickers at the mid range of settings and I got pitched off the old girl and did a rag doll imitation. At that point, (after taking a 5 minute breather) I backed out the compression clickers to full soft. It was noticably better but not confidence inspiring. I know there are eibach aftermarket springs (don't know the rate) in the fronts and felt the rebound was a bigger issue than the compression. I have done enough research to know, once you put in heavier springs, you have to deal with the rebound. So long story short, I could do the fork mod of removing 2 compression washers and put in thicker oil to compensate for the overly agressive rebound, or I could get a 1999 KX 125 front end, which there happens to be available in my area.
So my question is what is a "reasonable" amount to pay for a totally new 1999 KX 125 complete front end in good condition, not great ???
Would I have to revalve at a rider weight of 170lbs with gear, or is it pretty close to the mark, as is ???
Many Thanks in Advance !!!
Michael

$200??
If you want it to work its best, you will need to revalve MX forks for trail use and vice versa.

1999 KX 125 Complete Front End - $$$ ???
So drove all of 180 miles r/t to check out the 99 KX 125 front end only to find out it was "false" advertising. Yep, the smuck was trying to pawn off a 93 43mm front end as a 99 46mm front end. Pictures were acurate, but once I got there, noticed the blue anodize on the fork tubes, which was a dead give away.
Any rate, moving forward and that much wiser for my experience, noticed a 1996 CR250R front end in my local CL which from the race tech website shows it is the 46mm KYB USD forks which the 1997 through 2002 KX's had. Anyone have any experience or heard of anyone tackling such a project ???
Many Thanks in Advance !!!
