if its a 96 it should be for 43mm forks.

91-94 kx125-250 will fit.
if you get 94's you will be able to use your kdx caliper.
best regards

The clamps clamp onto the outer tubes, not the 43mm inner tubes.

1991 - 1995 KX125
1991 - 1995 KX250
1991 - 1996 KX500

The outer tubes of those forks have the same outer diameters.

I am sure most people know where to measure the forks from, and how they fit  hence the list of what would fit that I gave.
if we need to be technical , outer tube sizes......upper 52mm........lower 56.6mm.

my previous quote about the caliper, I have just noticed you have a 89 200, so you would need to get a suitable caliper also, axle and wheel to would be easiest.

The later forks with 46mm inner tubes do have different outer tube dimensions for a few different years.

correct for the 125 & 250, 46mm kx500 stayed the same size throughout the years 97-2004.

Thanks, this will help in my search for forks, gives me a little wider range to choose from. Then the search for front wheel and axle will start, this will be a piece at a time project when I have the extra money for it.

I have an ENTIRE 1991 KX 250 front end that will bolt right on. I had it on my bike for a week (2002 kdx 200) comes with everything except MC and line. It will need seals though. Where do you live here in Michigan?

I live in Fenton, about 15 miles south of flint. I would be interested in it but money's tight right now.
