how do you guys hold the axle when torquing the nut? do you have a piece of hex stock that you slide into the axle or do you use the pinch bolts on the forks? or do something else entirely?

The axle usually holds itself when you tighten the nut, make sure it is fully tapped in & you have not damaged the thread on the axle or the nut will be hard to take up the first part of the thread making the axle spin.
