where to send forks

The bike (97kdx220) will be down for a bit while I'm doing piston swap installing a rb carb & head.

I also scored a 99 kx250 front end that I'll send to rb for the stem & axle mod.

Anyone have any recommendations for inspecting/rebuilding/modifying forks? I know it sounds a bit odd to send off forks I've never used, but I don't want to have a failure the day before a race.

Thanks.

Location, location, location! Depending on where you live, there could be a great shop near by but we don't know where your at!

I'm located in the far northwest corner of Montana. The nearest kawa shop is in Kalispell.. about 2 hrs away and they are not suspension specialists.

I'm going to give race tech a call today for a quote, but it will be tough since I don't know what is worn out. Was looking to give some business to a smaller shop if possible.

OK, if no one is close to you, I recommend Donnie at ZR1 http://www.zr1suspension.com/. He did my KX forks and KDX shock and they have been great. He is an authorized Race Tech suspension specialist but his rates are better than most. Plus, he has very fast turnaround and is a great guy to deal with.

What is keeping you from doing it yourself?

Wear parts are just bushings, seals and oil. Since you are able to replace the piston, you definitely have the skills to pull the forks apart and put them back together. Lots of information and videos out there on how to do it.

I have had excellent service from Factory Connection, I live close to ****'s but have heard mixed reviews. Factory Connection usually a 1 week turn around including shipping time.

Garry here. I just recently sent my forks to WER, (Works Enduro Rider) (owner , Drew Smith) in New Jersey. They did a great job, fast turn around, resonable price. Find them on the web at WER.com.

Thanks everyone for your input. With the quick turnaround times, I'll probably just run them for a bit before sending them off.
I will change the oil, any recommendations on which viscosity? 220# rider with lots of experience going faster in my mind than on the track.

Well, well, well. Turns out the forks I received have already made a trip to Pro Circuit.
The bad news is the compression clickers are wore out .... 75 clicks before I stopped counting and the spring rate is for a prebuscent girl.

Since i'm already neck deep in my own equipment maintenance, I'm sending them to PC for the rebuild.

Already sent the steering stem, axle, carb and head to RB.... gonna kick some ktm ass this summer.
