steering bearing size
hey guys the dealership cut off my steering stem bearing when i had them press out the stem. my upper and races are still good so i dont want to buy a whole kit. anyone know what number the bearing would be if i went to a bearing warehouse?

Look on the old bearing and or race for a number. Or look up the OEM part number. They usually add the bearing number to the description (32005JR RS is a koyo taper bearing). You could measure the OD of stem and ID of the frame tube using vernier calipers. Most bearings are made/sold with mathcing races so using the old races is generally not a good idea, but for the stem probably wouldnt be a real problem.

Wow. The bearing just slides up when the stem is pressed down out of the clamp.
As mentioned, don't use an old race on a new bearing.

Yeah I left not knowing they removed it and I called back and the guy was like well I could get you a new one at a discount for $50. Pretty pissed but I just tipped the guy and didn't know if the dealership would replace it, but I got an all balls set for like $30.
