1989 KDX200 With Upside Down WP Forks

Post by adhclassic »

Hello there all.
I have a 1989 KDX200 that has been modified during its lifetime.
A set of WP Upside Down forks are fitted with an OD of 54mm.
I am in need of a new Triple Tree Fork Clamp as the current one is deformed after a bump and I cant seem to get the forks running parallel (both are true / straight when off but dont run parallel when fitted) so I presume the clamps are twisted / buckled.
Does anyone know of a replacement part Fork Tripple Tree Clamp that will do the trick?
Help greatly appreciated folks - I am a man in need.

Welcome to KDXRIDER!

We would need to start by identifying the forks. A picture would be helpful in this, as well as the OD of the inner fork tube. Are you sure the triple is bent? It's possible that the upper and lower triples are not properly lined up.

They are a pair of WP Protrack 4054 forks. Any ideas?

Curious: Did you install the forks and align them as per the above link from diy?

It is highly unlikely that a 'bump' would bend a clamp, and that means your presumption (clamp damage) may be incorrect.

Preload settings (if applicable), install heighth, clamp torque, stem centering...lots of things can cause a fork set to act poorly. Some bikes are more likely to get tweaked from a 'bump' than others.

A too tight clamp torque (sometimes even at spec values) can turn your forks into lousy suspenders.
