Post by Bruce »

hello, i've recently brought a set of usd forks that are apparently off a kdx250. will these be a straight swap for my kdx200?
the usd's are roughly off 91 to 95and my kdx is a 96 mod.
cheers.

I believe they will be a direct bolt on, but not much of an "upgrade". Obviously you need the triples and all. Not sure if your front wheel will work with them or not either.

You may want to look into getting a KDX250 complete front brake system as well.

Don't forget the fork guards, too. If you don't have the fork guards, just sell what you have and try again with some KX forks.

kdx250 usd forks on a kdx200??

Post by Bruce »

well i hope they are gonna be a straight swap as my fork seals have shot it on my stock forks. i know a chap that replaces seals for £60, but i thought i'd gamble with these usd's as they only cost me £100 with the yokes( clamps) /triples, whatever you wanna call em.

Thank you for your replies.

It would be a good time to replace the seals in the USD forks too. They go bad much faster than seals in conventional forks. Conventional fork seals are easy to change, the ones in the USD forks require you to disassemble the fork.
This is my rifle, this is my gun, the YZ to go fast, the KDX is for fun!

I have a 91 kdx200 and was thinking of putting a set of 250 forks on. Do you need the wheel and caliber? I seen a guy on ebay had forks stem and clamps for 150 free shipping.

Yes, you will need the front wheel.

If it doesn't have the fork guards, you will need a set, or figure out a new way of mounting the brake cable.

So it just seems more worth while to find a complete newer kx front end than waste time and money on this idea. Thanks.

Since you would basically need the whole front end, then just look at a front end that is a bolt-on swap, or go the full, newer KX model route.
