2003 XR650 front end...

Post by Terrence Sprocket »

Just wondering if anyone ever did a XR650 front end swap on an E series KDX. If so, was it a good choice for aggressive trail rider and minor jumps? The only thing that has me second thinking about it is that it's the XR650L model, which is basically the street model. I'm sure it's still better than the stock 1990 KDX front end, but how much better would it be? Some input would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.[/list]

Really? I figured that where the XR is a heavier bike that the front end would prob respond good to a light chassis like the kdx200's. Good to know, Thanx.

Those CR500 forks are great! I'ld love to have a set them. I'ld prob have a hard time finding some tho for the right price.
On the Fredette Racing site, Jeff Fredette recommends heavier springs on the stock E series conventional forks. Where I'm about 150 lbs, he recommends 33 kg springs. I'm not sure if he means progressive or straight rate springs tho. I wonder what a set of new springs would go for. Has any of u guys bought any b4 and had good results? Thanx.

you can use springs from an xr 400 and they can be had pretty cheap. I would just do the kx conversion and be done with it. great improvment

Springs matched to your weight (shock and fork) are recommended regardless of what's on the bike ;)
