Caliper mount issue - KX500 forks on KDX

Hello, working on 89 KDX200, swapped KX500 forks / clamps over the weekend, they were sold as from 01 KX500. No issues mounting forks / clamps, very easy. Planned on using caliper from KDX, had read that mount was close if not the same. Noticed that caliper bracket mount holes on the KX500 forks was around 4.1" / 104mm center to center, where my KDX caliper had mount holes around 2.45" / 62mm center to center. No big deal I said, and ordered a used caliper from an 01 KX500, it got here today and guess what, those holes are like my KDX! So I'm doing something wrong. Pics here

And here

I'm sure it's something stupid, but fire away, all input greatly appreciated. [/img]

I think you need the caliper off an H model KDX. The mount on the forks looks the same as mine. I will check.

It wouldn't be the first time I saw someone who didn't know what year the part they were selling came from.

Yep, you need an H series caliper or one from (IIRC) a '94 up KX. I had to do the same on my conversion.

So the caliper I ordered was probably just mis-labeled or etc? It was salvage so it was a gamble, no problem I'll just give another salvage caliper a try. Thanks very much for the replies.
