Swappers advice needed?? on 49mm showa's
I found some 49mm usd showa's off a 99 rm250 that was ridden in hare scrambles with everyting except the upper triple. 275. Should I pull the trigger and just figure it all out?
By everything I mean brake, wheel, axle, rotor, forks, and lower clamp

Will do
I'll know tomorrow if the guy can deliver in person. It comes to 300 with a manual for the bike with fork info for rebuilding it. I'll need to get a top clamp. Does anyone know if I should look for a rubber mounted one or solid??
Between this and the other work I'll have on my kdx and my wife's new ride (kx85) i'll have a lot of work for the winter!!

I have always liked the rubber mounted bars on any bike and also have always been very disappointed with solid mount bars on any bike. Some say you get better feed back but I personally do not like that kind of feed back.

Wrong axle. I gotta figure that out and I scored a set of pastrana fmx bars for 45.

Ok, I misunderstood what you were doing. I am putting the DRZ RSU forks on mine, which is the same externally as the 96-98 RM250. It is not the same as the 99 with the USDs. So I hope you got the right top triple clamp. I saw that error lots of times while I was shopping for my triples.

Ok a little update.
I ended up getting a friend to build me a new stem after the kdx one was squished by the press.
It pressed in nicely to the rm lower.
Everything is mocked up right now and is looking good.
I'm hoping my rake/trail/offset is close. I don't want it to turn like crap now.
It looks awesome, the ergo's for me are sooooo much better (6'4") I feel much more comfortable, less cramped and in a way better position for more solid control.
The top clamp came 1 1/8 and I got my Pastrana FMX bars mounted up.
New steering bearings and seals too.
Pics tomorrow of the mockup.

You have to heat the lower to get the stem out. It is pressed in and has a retaining compound on it.
I found the OEM stem to be just a little short anyway in the suzuki triple, so your custom one should work better.
