I've taken a look through old posts and couldnt seem to find a definitive answer. the axle from a 97 kdx 220 and a 98 kx 500 are the same on microfiche, does this mean that the front wheels are interchangeable and that i can put my kdx 220 front wheel on my new 98 kx500 front end?

the kdx has the odo drive, i doubt the kx has one. so you'd have to make an adapter/spacer...

I don't use the odo drive on my kdx, could i use the odo drive as the spacer for the 220 wheel on the 500 forks?

I don't know, didn't think of that.

A lot of the fiche's only show the first part of the part number. That part is like a general group number for the different parts. What I mean by that is the axle may be the same group number for every Kawasaki bike but the part number will be different.

Kawasaki uses a larger 20mm dia axle for the KX series and the wheels are interchangable between KX's with spacer options, including the KX500. Both KX500 forks have pinch clamps too, unlike the kdx.

damn, i was hoping it would be that easy but i guess not........are you saying that any kx model wheel can fit in a kx500 front end or will it need the right spacers? Is it just going to be easier to find a good kx500 front wheel?

if you know anyone that can run a lathe you could just make an axle and reuse your kdx wheel

not really in the known with many people that own or are able to use lathes... i used one in woodwork class a long friken time ago but dont think that'll come in handy making an axel....

I'd get a kx wheel, if it's a kx500 wheel and axle, you're in, if the wheel is from a kx 125 (however, some 125 axles do work if its from a double pinch bolt fork setup) or a kx 250, you'll still need the kx500 axle and spacers. ebay usually has used ones fairly cheap.

so my options are: Kx 500 wheel, kx 250 wheel with kx 500 axle and spacer or kx 125 with axle and spacers.... off to ebay i go...

is the kx250 front wheel going to need kx500 spacers to fit in a kx500 front end?
