KLX forks need what from a KDX to work?

I've read enough to know that the USD KLX300 forks are usable on a KDX200 (mine's a '95), but I'm unsure about what parts are needed overall. I know that they might not be the best option, but I am considering a pair IF the price is right. The added rigidity and lack of hang over are the two attributes I deem more important. This is just so I will be well-informed in case a pair become available to me.

My question is this:

Will a pair of (years?)KLX300 USB forks bolt on to my existing 1995 KDX triple tree and also retain the KDX front wheel and axle? I'm pretty sure that the front caliper will work, but please advise if that is incorrect. Overall, would I be able to JUST get the KLX forks, use my existing KDX stuff, and not have to buy anything else to complete the swap?

Thanks.

You won't be able to use your triples. The KLX forks are a larger diameter. A member here (Slick Nick) did this "recently" and I believe he said he used his KDX wheel and caliper. Look at his KDX220 rebuild thread.

You'll need the KLX triples and forks, that's it. Replace the stem bearings while you're in there. You can keep your stock wheel, axle, tripmeter, odo, and brake caliper. Get creative with the kdx brake line like I did or buy the shitty klx one, and have it get smashed the first time you're in a rocky area.

Respring the klx forks, they, like the kdx forks are too soft from the factory. Kdx springs will not work in the klx forks.

You will notice a HUGE improvement over stock, and won't have the harsh valving of the KX forks.

Thanks guys. I've seen a few sets with the triples, and I was hesitant to look at just forks.

For right now I'm just going to use the KDX forks, but I want to know what options I have if a good deal comes my way.

Love this site!

Is the KLX fork and triples a direct bolt on? and would also work on a 92 kdx200 or is it different for that year?

what forks if any would be a bolt on swap for the 92 kdx?

Same deal for 89+ KDX.
