KDX250 fork sag / static sag forks

Post by frontrow »

Hi guys
Can anyone advise how much my 1992 KDX250's forks should sag under the bike's own weight? I've just had a shop that I have used occasionally for the past 15 years replace the very very soft stock springs with some RT springs. The shop seemed to go to pains to make sure they got the right ones.

They wanted to know my weight (and I told them I was 10kg heavier than actual) and type of riding (road and easy trails), plus sometimes take a passenger.

HOWEVER.... the forks' static sag (weight of JUST the bike) is nearly THREE INCHES. Is that right? It seems way off. I haven`t adjusted the compression damping (the only real external adjustment available) yet, however I don't see how that will affect the static sag???

I suspect that some spacers will be required at the very least, however any advice anyone on this forum can share would be very much appreciated.

Cheers in advance guys.
