rebuilding forks

Post by Julien D »

Raining too much today to go ride, so I'm having a go at rebuilding the yz250 forks that are on my KDX. Gonna use 5w oil, new bushings, new seals, etc. I got all the parts last week except the oil. I'll run out to the honda shop in a bit to pick that up. I'm considering digging into the shim stack to remove a few shims if I can fashion a holder for the cartridge. Will be using PVC as a seal driver. I'm pretty sure I saw a good photo breakdown of KYB forks, so I'm hunting after it now. If anyone has tips, let's hear 'em.

Ooops... I shoulda put this in the suspension section I reckon.

Went well! I didn't dig into the shim stacks, but used 5w oil and left a 120mm airspace. I only got to ride it about an hour, but it felt really good. No more leaky leaky either. :)
