KX Suspension Mod

Post by Byte »

Greetings people.

I know you have all missed me..

Good to read you are all still here and keen as ever...

Wanting to know why is the KX suspension mod is done in the first place on the kdx?

Given that I would need to respring and revalve either KDX or KX forks, what is it about the KX forks that make this mod different to KDX forks?

Both rebound and compression adjustable. No underhang to hang you up and stiffer for much less flex....

thanks Indawoods

what is this underhang you refer to?

Is it possible to safely use the KDX220 for MX play (and not racing) after the KX mod is done and rear suspension done?

Look at how much of the fork leg is under the axle.

Yes.

Thanks Fuzzy,

Do any of the KX125 or KX250 have 48mm forks? If so, which year?

You can use the KDX for MX play even with the stock suspension. I have a KX 250 that's sprung for my weight and a KDX 220 with stock suspension and I take them both to the track.

The KDX is way too soft to even want to try the big jumps but it's kinda like a 125 in that it teaches you to corner faster and not waste energy.

Yeah, unless you weigh about 40 lbs. with gear a KDX with stock suspension will make you very dead on jumps at the tracks in CO. Just go around them, rolling them could make you a landing pad.

Hitting jumps before and after switching my forks is not like hitting the same jump on the same bike. No comparison. I'm using outdated 43mm forks too, but I'm no longer scared to get the KDX up in the air a bit.
