I just got a set of stiffer springs for my weight & gold valves which I ordered and ready to install. But I've also read of people using 7.5wt fork oil to help slow the rebound action. Does that still apply if I'm installing the gold valves?. What else can I do to the stock forks to bring their full potential?. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I tried 7.5 wt oil and had mixed feelings about it. This was the first oil change on the stock forks and using real oil helped since the pond scum that was in there wasn't doing the job. I went to stiffer springs at the same time, and while the two helped, I still didn't like the forks much. I didn't mess with valving, I just swapped in some KX forks. I think CC had a setup on his stockers that he liked a lot. Maybe you could PM him to ask what valve, shims, and oil he was using.
