KDX 200 newbie question

I bought an '06 kdx200 which I'm trying to set up for my weigh. I consider myself an agresive trail rider on hard pack hilly terrain. On a typical day I would take jumps around the 4' range. I also weigh 230 lbs.

As I've read in different forums the stock KDX200 springs comes for a 130 lbs guy at the forks & 180 lbs for the rear shock. I've also read guys changing the KDX springs for XR's springs. I have a XR650R which I resprung for my weigh 'cause the bike comes stock sprung for a 170 to 180 lbs rider. So here's the question, having stock springs for a light rider in the XR650R which is a much heavier bike than the kdx, what do you guys think if I try the XR650R stock springs in the kdx which is a lighter bike provided they fit in diameter & length?. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How come there are no responses to this guy?

Well..me neither, I guess...but I don't hang around this forum.

I don't know for sure what springs you have in the XR650. Your logic sounds good, though. I don't recall the spring type in the KDX (3740s or something)..but you can look that up on the RaceTech site.

If they fit, you would be considerably better off with them (probably .42s or close to it) than you would the OEM springs.

The OEM springs are 470mm long. XR springs are commonly 530mm or so (think that's right. They ARE longer!). As long as the diameter is correct..don't worry about the extra length. The OEM setup also uses a 100mm steel tube spacer...so you will have room for it.

Good luck!

Either he's not that interested in seeking knowledge...or he found out everything he needed to know.

I'll assume the latter...being such a positive kind'a guy.
