Conventional fork base valve shim stacks

Post by TopperHarley »

Just wondering what people out there have done with their OEM base valve shim stacks. Seems to be about 10 identical shims and one with a larger ID on the bottom of the stack. I have heard that some riders have taken out a number of them to reduce the mid travel harshness. Is there any magic number? Fredette said that there was no good combination with the OEM base valve shims. Figured I would try pulling a few and see what I get. I just opened up one of the tubes on my 2002 and found all OEM parts. The guy I bought the bike from told me that there were Gold Valves and race tech springs. Very dissapointing  I allways seem to trust people unless they give me a reason not to. Looks like I need to turn it around and not trust people untill they give me a reason too. Oh well.
If you run into Heidi, have her look me up in her little black book and give me a call.
Im feelin a little wild today.
