Rear shock bump stop

Hey there just a quick question about the rear shock bump stop, can your shock survive without one for a few rides? Not recomended but will it survive? Do any major damage? Cheers

I wouldn't think it would be good to bottom out with out the bump stop. I went to an auto repair shop and got a discarded piece of bumpstop for a strut they had lying around. I cut it to fit and split it so I could slide it between the spring and around the shock shaft. Kinda redneck but it got me by till I got time to put the regular one on.
